Do's and Don'ts

A mini video series of do's and don'ts for making the most license friendly music on Soundstripe.

Provide the Instrumental!

Everybody is telling a story. Soundstripe members use video to share theirs. Your music is meant to set the tone.

We've found that the majority of videos and films have a particular message they are trying to tell. Sometimes it's dialogue. Sometimes it's just a visual message. Whether thats a small business ad or a youtube video of a kid doing a cool skateboard trick, the lyrics may be in conflict with the context.  The film maker most likely will want JUST the music.

This happens quite a bit.

It happens so much that having ONLY a vocal version will take away from many opportunities of your song getting licensed.

We strive to see your music be a good fit and have a lot of opportunity. Having an instrumental version will highly increase opportunity for you.

If you're wondering how to upload both vocal and instrumental versions. Check the article "How To use Your Uploader"

The Human Element

Boost your download count by adding a bit of the Human Element. We've seen that even a small splash of good ole human analog will go a LONG way in a production made up of primarily virtual instruments.
